motte is a Lisbon based practice formed by a group of architects, engineers and builders.

The aim is to develop, through the design, research and debate, projects that are adapted to the contemporary life and to the new ways of living. The office has an experienced team committed to design buildings that consider the environmental, social and economic themes of sustainability.



The team is led by Filipe Ferreira, who was born in Coimbra in 1986. He started his studies in architecture at the University of Coimbra. During the academic period he received a scholarship to pursue his studies at Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio (AAM), in Switzerland, where he finished the M.Arch, under the tutorship of Jonathan Sergison.

Prior to establishing motte, co-founded arriba architects (2016-22), worked as as an architect at sam architekten, Promontorio architects, Luís Rebelo de Andrade Architects and Paulo David Architects. 

During his career as an architect he was responsible for developing, managing and designing projects in the areas of urbanism, residential, offices, tourism, industrial and retail.
